Agave
“One of many plants of the Agave family”
Mexican Agave plant, used to make the fermented juice, that then becomes the distilled “Liquor” Tequila.
Usually clear in color and unaged. It typically contains 40-50% alcohol. Tequila was developed soon after the Spaniards brought distillation to Mexico, and was named for the town of Tequila. It mixed with Lime Juice and Orange Liqueur to make the Margarita Cocktail. Mescal a stronger-flavored liquor, is made from a wild Agave from Oaxaca.
